Domestic Discipline Pumpkins!

I recently visited Malignus in South Dakota. Since it was nearly Halloween, we decided to carve pumpkins!

I love Halloween! It's a holiday that involves a lot of candy and dressing up, so it's obviously my kind of occasion. I don't know if Malignus was actually excited about the pumpkins or if he was just humoring me, but he took me to get two of them! I'd looked forward to it for weeks.

We picked out the perfect pumpkin, and then I picked out another one I could carry. His was significantly larger than mine, but they looked cute together. We named them Bert and Matilda and decided they were a pumpkin couple.

We didn't start out with the idea, but as we carved away at them and he intermittently smacked me with something, the art began to imitate life. Being the spankos that we are, we began carving spanko pumpkins! We're very clever.

In the photo above, you see Matilda standing in the corner, mascara streaked down her face. She's been crying. Bert is standing nearby rather menacingly. He's holding the dreaded "Jenny."

Jenny is a horrid wooden spoon that is Malignus' most beloved implement, and those who have felt her can understand why Matilda is so upset. Jenny hurts a lot! The day before, I became reacquainted with her awfulness after I accidentally impersonated a bad girl. This tragedy occurred after Malignus decided he needed to know whether or not it hurt more to pop me with the end of a kitchen towel or with a rubber toy snake. I protested, and he assured me that it was for science. "I hate science!" I exclaimed without thinking. As soon as the words left my mouth, I tried to suck them back in and began backpedaling.  Before I could get out more than a syllable, he had me by the arm, and I was being pulled into the bedroom. He grabbed Jenny, sat on the bed, and pulled me over his lap. Needless to say, there was plenty of wailing and declarations of my undying love for science. I was a very sorry girl.

So I'm sure Matilda learned her lesson too!

Happy Halloween!
